The .ER domain extension is The country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Eritrea. Established on September 24, 1996, it is administered and operated by EriTel (Eritrean Telecommunication Services Corporation) under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Eritrea. Due to limited local internet infrastructure and the lack of an automated public registration registry portal, direct registrations under the .er extension are extremely rare, with very few active domains worldwide. Since there is no public WHOIS server or RDAP endpoint provided by EriTel, domain presence is verified via DNS resolution analysis (NS query/NXDOMAIN detection). It requires a minimum label length of 2 characters and supports up to 63 characters. It does not support IDN characters, meaning only standard English characters are allowed. Registration is completely open and unrestricted globally to individuals and organizations.
