The .COM.TR domain extension is The most widely used second-level domain under Turkey's .tr ccTLD, originally intended for commercial entities. From 1990 until 2022, it was administered by METU (Middle East Technical University) and required trademark documentation or a trade registry certificate for registration. Following the transfer of authority to TRABIS (BTK — Information and Communication Technologies Authority) in 2022, the extension transitioned to an unrestricted first-come-first-served (FCFS) model, allowing anyone to register without documentation. As of 2024, .com.tr remains the dominant choice for Turkish businesses, hosting hundreds of thousands of active registrations. It requires a minimum label length of 2 characters and supports up to 63 characters. It does not support IDN characters, meaning only standard English characters are allowed. Registration is completely open and unrestricted globally to individuals and organizations.
