What is Ping Latency Test and How It Works?
A Ping Test is a diagnostic utility used to verify whether a particular host (a domain name or IP address) is reachable across an Internet Protocol (IP) network. It measures the round-trip time (RTT) for data packets sent from the source host to a destination computer and back. By sending ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) Echo Request packets, this tool provides real-time information about latency and connection stability.
Measuring network latency is crucial for system administrators, developers, and webmasters to troubleshoot connection speed drops, packet loss, or server downtime. A lower latency value indicates a more responsive connection, which is essential for database synchronization, voice over IP (VoIP), online gaming, and real-time API integrations.
